Youtuber Strings plea against Youtube accounts suspension Andhra Pradesh HC issues notice to Centre Google

AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh High Court today issued notice to the Centre and Google LLC on Youtube journalist String’s plea against alleged arbitrary suspension of its accounts by Google (which owns Youtube).

The plea was moved before a bench of Justice B Krishna Mohan. The Court has issued notice and directed Google and the Centre through the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTY) to file their responses within 4 weeks.

However, the Court refused to grant String any interim relief in the case.

String, which reportedly earned a revenue of Rs. 4 - 5 lakhs per month from the suspended channels, has also sought for Rs. 2 crore in damages.

String was represented by Adv. Shashank Shekhar Jha, who told the Court, “This is a matter of a fundamental right violation. I am a YouTube journalist, my accounts have been suspended by Google arbitrarily.”

The Court, going through the prayers, then responded, “We can issue notice, let them file a response.”
