Delhi Liquor Policy Case K Kavitha withdraws plea from Supreme Court challenging her arrest

New Delhi: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha, on Tuesday, withdrew her plea challenging the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons in connection with the Delhi Liquor Policy Case.

Daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Kavitha was arrested by the ED on March 15 from her Hyderabad home and sent to the federal agency's custody till March 23.

According to ED the BRS leader conspired with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and paid Rs 100 crore to the party to garner favours in the now-scrapped liquor policy.

"In exchange for these favours, she was involved in paying Rs 100 crore to the leaders of AAP. By the acts of corruption and conspiracy in the formulation and implementation of Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, a continuous stream of illegal funds in the form of kickback, from the wholesalers was generated for the AAP," it added.

A total of 15 persons including Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh and Vijay Nair from AAP have been arrested in the case so far.

However, BRS leader Kavitha has asserted that the Centre was "using" the ED as the BJP could not gain a "backdoor entry" into Telangana. The AAP has accused the BJP of using ED and CBI as its "goons" to finish off political opponents.
