Sameer Wankhede's Political Entry: Washim Becomes His Political Battleground

MUMBAI: Mr. Sameer Wankhede, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), is preparing to step into the world of active politics. His political aspirations will find expression in Washim district, Maharashtra, which will serve as his battleground for the upcoming political endeavors. Speculations about his foray into politics have been circulating ever since his visit to the Nagpur headquarters of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in March. Although he has refrained from confirming his intentions, insiders suggest that he is now ready to take the plunge, enjoying substantial support from his hometown, Washim.

Mr. Wankhede hails from the humble village of Varun Tohfa in Washim district, which is known for its economic hardships. His relentless and courageous work in airport Customs, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, and the Narcotics Control Bureau has garnered him a loyal following. In recent times, he has actively participated in public engagements, particularly those related to drug eradication and various social causes, further bolstering his popularity among the masses.

The multifaceted Mr. Wankhede exhibits a keen interest in several domains, including the anti-drug movement, orphanages, organ and blood donation, and guiding the backward class towards civil services and military careers. He actively supports two orphanages, notably the Sindhutai Sakpal orphanage in Pune, where he advocates for the welfare of orphaned girls. With a dedicated focus, he regularly visits various regions in Maharashtra and Gujarat, championing social causes and raising awareness.

Signs of Mr. Wankhede's inclination towards active politics are becoming increasingly apparent through his presence at public events. Notably, he was an honored guest at the Bhim Geet Mohotsav in Sawad, Washim. On this occasion, an RSS representative, sharing the stage with Mr. Wankhede, posed a question to the crowd, inquiring whether an esteemed officer like him should assume the role of a public representative. The resounding applause and cheers from the enthusiastic audience demonstrated their unwavering support for Mr. Wankhede. Taking the opportunity, Mr. Wankhede addressed the gathering, receiving an overwhelming response with claps, whistles, and cheers.

In addition, Mr. Wankhede actively engages with parents, children, and concerned citizens of Mumbai through informative discussions on the significance of abstaining from drugs. He passionately supports the Government of India's "nasha mukt Bharat" campaign, striving to create awareness about the perils of drug consumption. Recently, he hosted a similar interactive session titled "Talk About Drugs" in Navi Mumbai, fostering dialogue and understanding among parents and children.

Moreover, Mr. Wankhede publicly announced his registration as an organ donor with the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO). In his heartfelt message, he emphasized the profound impact organ donation can have on saving lives, expressing his desire to provide hope to those suffering from organ failures and enduring expensive medical treatments.

When questioned about his potential entry into active politics, Mr. Wankhede refrained from commenting, leaving room for anticipation and speculation. His journey into the political arena holds immense promise, with the potential to shape the future of Washim district and beyond.

Conclusion

Mr. Sameer Wankhede, a distinguished IRS officer, is poised to make his mark in the realm of active politics. With Washim district serving as his political battlefield, his decision has generated significant interest and support.
