What to expect from the Special Parliament Session

The upcoming special session of Parliament, scheduled to begin on September 18, is shrouded in secrecy regarding its exact agenda.

The BJP, known for its strategic surprises, has not disclosed the purpose behind this session yet.

Initially, there were discussions about enacting a law for simultaneous elections, and there's even speculation about permanently changing the country's name from India to Bharat, as seen in official invitations during the G20 Summit.

Nonetheless, the true intent of this special session remains a mystery. Many observers anticipate significant moves that could impact upcoming elections.

These possibilities include restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, progressing towards a Uniform Civil Code, and potentially announcing the long-awaited Women's Reservation Bill.

Furthermore, there's speculation that the BJP might take steps toward realizing "One Nation, One Election."

Meanwhile, it is learnt that the Parliament staff will don new uniforms as they move to the new Parliament building next week for the special session scheduled from September 18 to 22.

The uniform will have a Bharatiye touch as it includes Nehru jackets and khaki-colored pants, among other changes.

While the session starts on September 18, there will be a formal entry into the new Parliament building on September 19 on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi after a small pooja.

The new uniforms have been handed over to all the 271 staff, including chamber attendants and those deployed for verbatim reporting service, officials said. They added that security officers from the Parliament Security Service (Operations) deployed will don army camouflage fatigues instead of the blue safari suit.

Sources said the designs have been created by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. (NIFT).

The uniform will be gender neutral, they added.

As per an internal circular, all the entitled officials and personnel collected their attires on September 6. Though initially there was a plan to unveil the uniform when the new Parliament building is inaugurated, it got delayed.
