Justice Sanjay Yadav named Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court [READ NOTIFICATION]

On Thursday (June 10, 2021) Shri Sanjay Yadav, a Judge of the Allahabad High Court, was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court by the President of India, with effect from the date he assumes office. On Sunday(June 13, 2021) Justice Sanjay Yadav was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court. At the Gandhi Hall of the Raj Bhavan, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Justice Yadav. Justice Yadav, on the other hand, will step down on June 25th, when he turns 62. Chief Justices and high court judges are required to retire at the age of 62.

"The President is pleased to appoint Shri Sanjay Yadav, Judge of the Allahabad High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," the notification issued by the Law Ministry's Department of Justice read.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Law Minister Brajesh Pathak, UP Chief Secretary RK Tiwari, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Mahesh Kumar Gupta, family members of the Chief Justice, senior judges of the High Court, Registrar, and other senior officials were among those present at the swearing-in ceremony, according to a Raj Bhavan statement. 

His name was recommended for elevation as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court by the Supreme Court collegium last month. Justice Yadav was born on June 26, 1959, and enrolled as an advocate on August 25, 1986. 

In the High Court of Madhya Pradesh in Jabalpur, he practised civil, revenue, and constitutional law. He also served as Madhya Pradesh's deputy advocate general. On March 2, 2007, Justice Yadav was appointed to the High Court of Madhya Pradesh as a judge, and on January 15, 2010, he was appointed as a permanent judge.
