SC Collegium approves proposal for appointment of 9 judges for HCs

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday reiterated for the third time appointment of an advocate as judge of the Karnataka High Court and also approved the proposals for appointment of eight other persons -- one advocate and seven judicial officers -- as judges of various High Courts.

In its meeting, the Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India reiterated its decision to appoint advocate Nagendra Ramachandra Naik as judge of the Karnataka High Court.

His name was earlier recommended on October 4, 2019, and then reiterated on two occasions on March 2, 2021 and September 1, 2021.

The judicial officers recommended for appointment as judges in the Karnataka High Court are Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar, and Venkatesh Naik Thavaryanaik.

Two judicial Officers recommended as judges in the Manipur High Court are Aribam Guneshwar Sharma, and Mrs Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui.

Those approved as elevation as judicial officers as judges in the Andhra Pradesh High Court are Smt P Venkata Jyothirmai, and V Gopalakrishna Rao.

The name of Mridul Kumar 
Kalita, Judicial Officer, has also been approved for appointment as judge in the Gauhati High Court.

The Collegium also approved appointment of advocate Neela Kedar Gokhale as judge in the Bombay High Court.
