Ashok Chakra Removed From Tricolour and Replaced by Islamic Slogan

In Telangana's Mahabubnagar district, various protestors were seen holding national flag with the respected Ashok Chakra replaced with 'La ilaha illallah' amid pan-India protests against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma's controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad.

The Islamic Shahada ‘La Ilaha Illallah’ means that 'there is no other God but Allah'. This essentially means that all the Gods of the people belonging from other religions whose feelings and beliefs in their whole culture, tradition(s), ritual(s), festival(s) literally their whole existence of their entire civilization that revolves around their deity(s) are blatantly being challenged. This is disgraceful and discriminating in nature towards the religious feelings and sentiments of the rest of the Indian population of this Secular nation.

The demonstration took place outside Mahabubnagar's Masjide Rahmath. After Friday prayers, numerous protestors gathered outside the mosque. Various protestors flying a tricolour with 'La ilaha illallah' in lieu of Ashok Chakra can be seen in a viral video.

The slogan ‘La Ilaha Illallah’, which means “there is no other God but Allah”, is now being openly used to mock the Constitution and the revered Ashok Chakra of India’s national flag in the name of secularism by replacing it with the same Islamic Shahada that once provoked the gullible Kashmiris in January, 1990 in order to provoke them to wash their hands in the blood of their own brothers in the name of Allah, leading to the macabre tale of the Kashmiri pandits massacre.

This type of protest is not the very first time it has happened in India in February 2020. Before this, also during one of the anti-CAA protests in Hyderabad, a shocking visual came to light. There also, the Ashok Chakra of the Indian National Flag was replaced with an Islamic Shahada ‘La Ilaha Illallah’.

The Indian Constitution through Article 51-A imposes a non-binding duty upon the Indian citizens to inter alia abide by the Constitution and respect the National Flag. The Flag Code of India, 2002, contains executive instructions issued by the Government of India. Also, in terms of Section 2 of the Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, – no person shall burn, mutilate, deface, defile, disfigure, destroy, trample upon or otherwise show disrespect to or bring into contempt (by words, either spoken or written, or by acts) the Indian National Flag.

Due to these openly violent actions, the common citizens' right to live peacefully in the country is also hampered (Article 21).

Strict measures must be implemented to prevent religiously motivated incidents from tearing the country apart.

After protests from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Iran over alleged derogatory remarks about Prophet Mohammad, the BJP took action against its functionaries and asserted that it respects all religions. The BJP suspended Nupur Sharma and expelled Jindal on Sunday as the dispute became more heated both at home and abroad.

Massive anti-Nupur Sharma rallies erupted in numerous places throughout the country on Friday. The crowd began throwing stones in locations like Ranchi, Jharkhand's capital, while a top police officer's vehicle was damaged in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, as the situation became violent. In Maharashtra's Navi Mumbai, a large gathering of women conducted a protest march. In Solapur, there were also demonstrations. Hundreds of people gathered at Delhi's iconic Jama Masjid on Friday in the national capital, allegedly without any permission to hold a protest. They demanded the arrest of Nupur Sharma, the BJP spokeswoman who was suspended last month after making controversial remarks about the Prophet Muhammad during a TV debate.

Two people were even killed in the violent protest in Jharkhand’s Ranchi. “Two people have succumbed to their injuries out of total injured who were brought to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) after the violence in Ranchi” RIMS Authorities stated.

For allegedly spreading hate and hurting religious sentiments, the Delhi Police have filed a FIR against 31 people, including AIMIM chairman Asaduddin Owaisi and controversial priest Yati Narsinghanand.

According to police sources, the two FIRs were filed on Wednesday following a social media analysis. The FIR names former Delhi BJP media unit head Naveen Kumar Jindal, who was expelled from the party over alleged anti-Mohammad statements, and journalist Saba Naqvi.
