Tamil Nadu: Tamil actor ‘Thalapathy’ Joseph Vijay has announced the formation of his political party, 'Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’ a.k.a. TVK, with the goal of bringing about "fundamental political change" marked by transparent, caste-free, and corruption-free administration. Vijay made this announcement following approval from his fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.
In a statement, Thalapathy Vijay expressed his commitment to politics as a sacred duty and not just another career. He stated his desire to fully engage in politics, emphasizing that it is his deepest aspiration.
The actor's move into politics comes amid a backdrop of administrative malpractices, corruption, and divisive politics based on caste and religion. Vijay believes that the people of Tamil Nadu are yearning for a fundamental political change that can lead to a selfless, transparent, and efficient administration.
Thalapathy Vijay's political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, plans to contest the upcoming 2026 assembly elections. After obtaining approval from the Election Commission, the party will conduct public meetings and events to present its policies, principles, action plans, flag, and party symbol.
