'No dog bite marks' on Parag Desai's body

No dog bite marks on Parag Desais body

The executive director of the Wagh Bakri Tea Group Parag Desai died on Sunday, a week after slipping outside his home in Ahmedabad, warding off street dogs during his evening walk.

The private hospital in Gujarat where Desai was immediately admitted revealed that there were no bite marks on his body.

"The patient was brought to the facility in an unconscious state, it was stated that he fell after being chased by dogs, but apparently there were no dog bite marks on his body,” Shelby Hospital said in a statement.

“A CT scan revealed acute subdural hematoma with bilateral frontal contusion. Desai was admitted to the ICU and advised to be kept under observation and treatment for 72 hours," the statement added.

He reportedly suffered a severe head injury after a fall trying to ward off an attack by stray dogs during his morning walk.

He was rushed to the Shelby Hospital after the said attack on October 15, after a security guard outside his house alerted his family members.

Following that he was shifted to the Zydus Hospital where he died during treatment on October 22.He is survived by his wife and daughter.

The son of Rasesh Desai, who is the Managing Director of the group, Parag looked after sales, marketing and exports for Wagh Bakri. He is said to have been associated with charities like Blind People’s Association (BPA) and the Jeevdaya Charitable Trust (which runs an animal hospital in Ahmedabad) and to have had a keen interest in sustainability projects.
